Who We Are

The Quambatook Community Resource Centre is your local Neighbourhood House.

We offer low-cost services and assistance, programs, and activities in a welcoming, inclusive, and safe space to support and connect the Quambatook community.

Providing opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and walks of life, to be involved and make connections they might not otherwise make, is what we do.

History

Quambatook Community Resource Centre (QCRC) is a not-for-profit organisation, and registered charity, dedicated to serving the wider community through programs, activities, and support tailored to local interest and needs. QCRC aims to offer opportunities for community members to participate in various activities that enhance skills, boost confidence and improve quality of life.

Established in February 2004 as a Rural Transaction Centre, QCRC has since evolved into a hub offering a wide range of services to our community. These include adult and community education, social and leisure activities, a Centrelink Access Point, computer and Internet access, photocopying, faxing and a range of secretarial services.

QCRC is also home to a branch of the Gannawarra Shire Library, which hosts School Holiday activities. QCRC produces a monthly community newsletter, The Mallee Root News, guided by the philosophy that ‘An informed community is a healthy community.’

We are also proud to host the Quambatook Men’s Shed, a program of QCRC, that opened on July 15th 2015.

QCRC is governed by an elected Committee of Management, made up of community representatives. The Committee meets monthly to oversee the governance, financial stewardship, strategic direction, and the legal obligations of the Centre.

Our Commitment to Child Safety

Quambatook Community Resource Centre (QCRC) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. QCRC has zero tolerance for child abuse and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently with our policies and procedures.

QCRC is committed to providing a child safe environment where children and young people are safe and feel safe, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives. Particular attention will be paid to the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island children and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds as well as safety of children with a disability.

Every person in authority involved in QCRC has a responsibility to understand the important specific role they play individually and collectively to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of all children and young people is at the forefront of all they do and every decision they make.
